George Lewis Brinkley, III was born 10 February, 1946. He is a salesman
for Bentley Cadillac in Huntsville, AL. He was Director of Planning
Commission, Gwinette County, Norcross, Georgia for 17 years.
George was married on 10 June, 1967 to Glenna Kay Hearn, daughter of the former
Mayor of Huntsville, Glenn Hubbard Hearn and Kathryn King Hearn. Lewis and
Glenna had a son, William Edward Brinkley, born 10 August 1972, who died in a
car accident 25 June 1977 and is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville,
next to his grandfather, Glenn Hubbard Hearn, who died six months after Will's
death. There is a white cross in the cemetery which has the Brinkley-Hearn
names on it. Will's other grandfather, G. L. Brinkley, Jr., is buried on
the west side of the cross and Will and Glenn on the east side.
Lewis and Glenna also have a son, Charles L. Brinkley, born 28 July 1969, who is
an attorney with Brinkley & Chesnut, and a daughter, Elizabeth Jane
Brinkley, who attends Huntsville High School. Charles L. Brinkley is
married to Jennifer Foley, who is an attorney and whom he met at law school at
Cumberland. She is from Vero Beach, Florida.
