We just arrived back in Norway after two weeks in Thailand (Honeymoon). We had a perfect time at a nice hotel in Phuket. The food is very good in Thailand, cheap as well.  It is also a nice place to shop items made of silk. The Thai people are mostly Buddhists. They believe that their life on earth can make significant results in the next life, struggling to reach a higher level - and in the end - NIRVANA. This belief makes the people friendly and very service minded. We did not experience any criminality, (except some hookers) during our stay.

We visited Phi Phi Island - and "The Beach" from the movie with Leonardo di Caprio, we rode elephants in the rain forest of Khao Sok (National park in Thailand), we met some snakes (Vipers & Python), wild gibbon monkeys etc.

We also had a short three days trip to Singapore. A perfect country if you want to shop electronics (very cheap). Singapore is the cleanest city I have ever seen. Not one single bubblegum on the sidewalk, not an empty bottle, not a piece of paper in the street. It is also a very restricted place. Not flushing the public toilet means S$500 in penalty (USD 250), same penalty for smoking in a shopping centre.

Possession of 20g narcotics will give you death penalty (no matter if its marihuana or heroin) - that explain why we didn't see one single addict in this country. Posters with warning of such possession were placed all over the airport.

On our flight back we were supposed to fill gas on the plane (& change crews) in Dubai (United Arab Emirates, because of Saddam we had to use the airport in Kiev (Ukraine) instead. At the airport we were met by four officers in military uniforms & a really serious security check.
