S. Olson, 83, Jamestown, died Sunday, July 14, 2002, at Hi-Acres
Manor, Jamestown.
Lilly Olson was born Sept. 22, 1918, at Jamestown, the daughter
of Olaf R. and Marie (Johanson) Olson. She attended Jamestown
Public Schools and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1937.
She worked for J.C. Penney Co. in alterations and as a sales
clerk. In December 1938 she worked for McElroy Co., a real estate
sales and management company, as stenographer and bookkeeper and
was also a licensed insurance agent for K. M. Moran Agency. In
January 1970 she began attending Jamestown College as a fellow in
art, graduating in 1973 with a bachelor of arts degree in art
education. She taught drawing through the Jamestown Parks and
Recreation Department, Jamestown Fine Arts Association and
Jamestown College Educational Vacations, and also taught
individuals and classes in her home. She also painted. She was a
member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she served as financial
secretary for 17 years, treasurer for 25 years and sang in the
choir for 50 years. She was a member of the Jamestown Fine Arts
Association, Lady Washington Chapter No. 1 O.E.S. and the P.E.O.
Sisterhood Chapter AB.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Shirley Olson, Park Rapids,
Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harold.
Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jamestown,
with the Rev. JoAnne Moeller officiating.
Visitation: 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Eddy Funeral Home,
Jamestown.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
