Marion was born in either Little Rock, Arkansas or Chattanooga, TN, I'm not sure which.  I do remember that she read books to me when I was very small.  She took me to the library in downtown Chattanooga.  She told me later that she had read every book in the children's library to me.  She said that our mother had told her that if she would read to me she would not have to do other housework.  I particularly remember that I loved the Oz books and she read them over and over to me.  Marion attended Central High School for a while but graduated from another high school in Chattanooga.  She graduated from the University of Chattanooga and worked as a librarian for several years.  She met her husband, Roswell Ison Butler, during the time he was stationed around Chattanooga during WWII.  After the war they moved to Atlanta, GA, which was Ros' home.  Marion and Ros had three children, Beth, Barry, and Roslyn.  Barry drowned in an accident in the lake at the Butler family farm at age 2.
