SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. –
The UCF women’s golf team opened its season by placing ninth at the
Louisville Cardinal Cup Tuesday at the Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky. The
Golden Knights shot a 327 during the final round Tuesday to finish the event
with a three-round score of 967 (+113). The host Louisville Cardinals captured
the championship with a three-round score of 919 (+55).
Senior Kim Tudor had a strong showing for UCF by placing in a tie for 10th
place. Tudor shot a 79 Tuesday to finish the Cardinal Cup with a score of 232
(+16). With the finish, it marked the ninth time in Tudor’s career that she
has finished within the top 10.
Freshman Megan Bursey was UCF’s second-best golfer by finishing in a tie for
35th. Bursey carded an 82 Tuesday to finish the two-day event with a score of
244 (+28).
Following Tudor and Bursey, Sarah Greene and Anna Green finished 39th and 48th
respectively for UCF. Greene shot an 83 Tuesday to finish the event with a
score of 246 (+30) while Green carded an 83 during the final round for a
three-round score of 249 (+33).
Freshman Karen Hong finished the Cardinal Cup with a score of 257 (+41) while
fellow classmate Kristin Sordel shot a 92 Tuesday to finish the tournament
with a total score of 258 (+42).
The Golden Knights are back in action October 11-13 at the Beacon Woods
Invitational, hosted by the University of South Florida. The three-day event
will be located at the Beacon Woods Golf Club in New Port Richey, Fla.
