Mom’s Applesauce (as told to Connie)

 

Peel and slice green cooking apples real thin.

(we learned much later that Granny Smith apples work also). 

 

Slice into a pot of water mixed with some Fruit Fresh to keep apples from turning
brown. 

 

Before cooking, pour off most of the water – just leave the apples about ¼ covered
to cook. 

 

Cook covered on low heat until apples fall to pieces – keep stirring them. 

 

Add a lot of sugar (to taste). 

 

If apples are not very tart, add lemon juice to taste. 

 

(The real trick here is buying the apples and no one can tell you how to do
that, unfortunately)
