Egil Ivar Syvertsen

This is a picture of my fathers father. His name was Egil Ivar Syvertsen, he was a whalehunter. He really loved me, he died when I was about 7 years old, but he spent every day he could, carrying me around, singing for me, learning me how to ride my first bicycle and so on... My best memory of him was that in summertime he always drove a "moped" ( I'm not sure this is what it is called in English, it is a little motorcycle) and he had two small bags on each side of his bike. And I knew that every time he came to visit us he had always bought caramels for me and put them in one of the bags on his bike. He didn't give them to me, he made me go there and look for them myself. And he loved to see my expression when I found my candy. He was a great man. And I still miss him even though it's been so many years and I was so young when he died.
